Here at Deck & Fence Pro one of our core values is to uphold New Zealand’s proud clean and green image. The painting industry can have some catastrophic effects on our environment so we are 100% committed to reducing those effects and being the No. 1 environmentally responsible painting company in NZ.
Our stains are manufactured in NZ speciafically for Deck & Fence Pro by Enviro Paints of Otaki on the Kapati Coast. They are not imported so we can reduce our carbon footprint by not shipping stain half way across the world. We also use some of Enviro paints paint for fences and decking.
We also use Dulux paints as Dulux is NZ’s largest manufacturer of environmentally safe water based paints. Dulux have also been awarded an Environmental Choice license. This license covers most Dulux premium water based paints. Environmental Choice branded products must meet strict environmental standards and are recognised by the New Zealand Green Building Council, Green Star rating tools.
Enviro Paints are the only true recyclers of paint in NZ, recycling and reusing tens of thousands of litres of paint annually. Awarded Environmental Award 2002 and Best Product Innovation by Placemakers 2008. Enviro Paints are constantly looking for a brighter future and are dedicated to excellence and a zero waste policy, even recycling old paint tins and plastic pails to make into new containers. We wholeheartedly support this fantastic New Zealand company for their environmental commitment.
We use low VOC (volatile organic compound) paints. VOCs are unstable, carbon-containing compounds that readily vaporize into the air. When they enter the air, they produce ozone, which causes air pollution and a host of health issues including breathing problems, headache, burning, watery eyes and nausea. Some VOCs also have been linked to cancer, kidney and liver damage. As paint dries, these harmful VOCs are released into the air at high levels. Indoor VOC levels are routinely 10 times higher than outdoor levels, and up to 1,000 times higher immediately after painting. Paint-related products are one of the worst environmental offenders. They’re the second largest source of VOC emissions into the atmosphere after automobiles.
Where possible we send any excess paints back to Enviro Paints for recycling. As a result of collecting waste paint, we reduce the volume of waste material that would normally go to landfills.
